UK Insurance Market Sees Key Leadership Moves Across Underwriting, Broking, And Regional Operations

Several insurance firms have announced notable leadership appointments and promotions across the UK market, strengthening expertise in underwriting, broking, and regional operations.

Prestige Underwriting Expands Leadership with Promotion of Carl McComb

Prestige Underwriting has promoted Carl McComb (pictured, left) to the role of Underwriting and Pricing Director, expanding his remit to oversee the development and implementation of the company’s underwriting strategy across the UK and Ireland.

In his new position, McComb will lead the creation of strategic guidelines for risk assessment and pricing, as well as manage multidisciplinary teams focused on building, validating, and refining pricing models to ensure sustainable profitability.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, McComb will integrate pricing, underwriting, and analytics to align risk management with business objectives. His responsibilities also include assessing the viability of new and enhanced products, monitoring market trends, and shaping distribution-ready rating frameworks.

He will work closely with the operations, claims, and distribution teams to strengthen execution and broker relationships. The consolidation of underwriting and pricing functions under McComb’s leadership is designed to build on the firm’s recent improvements and support future growth.

New Dawn Risk Appoints George Brooke as Senior Broker

Specialist Lloyd’s broker New Dawn Risk has appointed George Brooke (pictured, right) as Senior Broker within its Management Liability and Financial Institutions team.

Brooke brings broad international experience, having worked with clients across the US, Australia, Asia, Latin America, and Europe. He joins from Price Forbes, where he served as Director in the Management Liability team, and previously held the role of Assistant Vice President, FINPRO, at Marsh JLT Specialty.

Based in London, Brooke will report to Jack Keilty, Head of Management Liability & Financial Institutions. His appointment supports the firm’s strategy to expand its global Management Liability and Financial Institutions portfolio and follows the recent addition of Anthony Kerr as Senior Client Manager and Claims Advocate.

HHIB Promotes Natalie Carr to Associate Director

H&H Insurance Brokers (HHIB) has promoted Natalie Carr (pictured) to Associate Director, recognising her nearly 30 years of service and leadership at the firm’s Wigton office. Carr manages a portfolio of agricultural and farm clients across North and West Cumbria, specialising in agriculture, forestry, and tree surgery.

Carr began her career in 1987 as an office junior and later developed a strong interest in agricultural insurance after meeting her husband, who works in farming. She divides her time between the Wigton office—where she is based on Tuesdays and Thursdays—and on-site visits to farms and rural businesses across the region.

The Wigton team also includes Claims Team Leader Victoria Twentyman and Broker Chloe Brough, who are available on key sale dates. HHIB serves clients across the North of England and southern Scotland, providing insurance solutions in sectors including agriculture, commercial, tourism, hospitality, and property. The broker operates offices in Carlisle, Wigton, Durham, Hexham, Kirkby Stephen, Newton St Boswells, and Northallerton.
