UK Insurance Market Sees Leadership Momentum And Strategic Growth

The UK insurance market has entered November on a strong note, marked by a series of senior appointments and strategic initiatives across broking, underwriting, and specialty lines.

BIBA Strengthens Regional Representation

The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has enhanced its regional leadership with the appointment of Sarah Chadburn, director at One Call Insurance, as chair of its Regional Chairs’ Advisory Board (RCAB).

Chadburn, who also chairs BIBA’s Yorkshire & Northern Regional Committee, will now join the association’s main board. She succeeds John Batty of Bridge Insurance Brokers, who has completed his advisory tenure and now moves to BIBA’s Insurance Brokers’ Standards Committee.

With over two decades of broking experience, Chadburn will lead the RCAB in championing brokers’ interests across BIBA’s 11 regions, reinforcing the association’s commitment to ensuring regional perspectives continue to inform its national advocacy efforts.

Westfield Specialty Appoints New International President

Westfield Specialty International has named Anthony Baldwin as President, Specialty International, subject to regulatory approval. Based in London, Baldwin will oversee all operations outside the United States and will report to Jack Kuhn, Global President of Westfield Specialty.

His appointment follows robust growth, with Westfield Specialty reporting $1.4 billion in gross written premiums during the first nine months of 2025. Baldwin, formerly CEO UK and CEO Europe at AIG, brings three decades of experience to support Westfield’s expanding global presence.

Arch Insurance UK Expands Regional Underwriting Capabilities

Arch Insurance UK has strengthened its regional underwriting presence with the appointment of Chris Walker as Senior Property & Casualty Underwriter, based in Bristol.

Walker joins from Aviva and will focus on growing Arch’s property and casualty portfolio while deepening relationships with brokers across the West, Southwest, and Wales. The move supports Arch’s strategy to expand its regional footprint and invest in experienced underwriting talent.

Arc Legal Group Bolsters Commercial Leadership

Arc Legal Group, a subsidiary of AmTrust International, has appointed John Walsh as Commercial Director, tasked with driving business growth and strengthening partnerships with both new and existing clients.

Walsh brings over 20 years of industry expertise from senior roles at RSA, Swinton Insurance, and British Engineering Services. His appointment underlines Arc Legal’s focus on expanding its legal expenses and assistance solutions, with sustained growth projected through 2025 and beyond.

Bridge Specialty International Enters Transactional Liability Market

Bridge Specialty International (BSI) has expanded into the transactional liability sector with a new leadership team. Charles Russell joins as Managing Director, alongside Hollie Markham and Jack O’Flaherty as Executive Directors.

All three previously held senior positions at Gallagher and will spearhead BSI’s development of Warranty & Indemnity (W&I) and tax insurance offerings. The move marks a strategic milestone for BSI as it broadens its capabilities in high-growth specialty markets.

BPL Launches Funded Solutions Team

Independent credit and political risk insurance (CPRI) broker BPL has launched a new Funded Solutions team to provide insurance-linked capital and credit management solutions.

The initiative introduces collateralised and insured risk participation structures designed to help financial institutions optimise capital usage and connect with institutional investors. Led by George Biddulph and Harriet Rowland-Clark, the launch reflects the growing convergence between credit insurance and structured finance, as insurers seek innovative avenues for capital deployment and portfolio diversification.

MAXIS GBN Strengthens Western Europe Leadership

MAXIS Global Benefits Network (MAXIS GBN) has promoted Jean-David Bridoux to Regional Manager – Western Europe, succeeding Damian Allepuz, who recently became Regional Director – EMEA.

Since joining MAXIS in 2019, Bridoux has played a key role in driving outbound business and managing relationships with multinational clients and intermediaries. His promotion comes as MAXIS continues to grow its global employee benefits network, now covering nearly seven million employees worldwide.
