The UK insurance sector has seen a flurry of senior leadership appointments as firms continue to bolster their capabilities and refine their strategic direction. These moves underscore a broader industry effort to expand market share and enhance service offerings in a competitive landscape.
LMA Welcomes Canopius CEO to Board
The Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA) has announced the appointment of Mark Newman, CEO of Canopius UK and Canopius Managing Agents, to its board. Newman, who joined Canopius in 2016, brings extensive leadership experience, having previously headed Catlin Asia Pacific. His deep understanding of the Lloyd’s market is expected to provide the LMA with strategic insights as it continues to strengthen its global position.
Newman’s appointment follows the departure of Kate Roy, Group COO of Canopius, who has stepped down from the LMA board.
Acrisure UK Broking Expands Leadership Team
Acrisure UK Broking has made a series of key senior appointments aimed at accelerating its UK Retail growth. These moves come as the company prepares to unify its UK broking businesses under the Acrisure name by 2025, part of a broader push to enhance broker engagement and drive organic growth.
- Gary Green has joined Sutton Specialist Risks (SSR) to lead 2Vision, a newly formed unit focused on serving regional brokers working with SMEs. This division will offer specialized products, including Professional Liability, Directors’ and Officers’ Liability, Commercial Combined, and Standalone Terrorism coverage. Green, a veteran with over 40 years of industry experience, will also spearhead the opening of Acrisure’s first office in Chelmsford, Essex. Before joining Acrisure, he held senior roles at Angel Risk Management.
- Tom Brown has been appointed to lead the former Hine Insurance business, now part of Acrisure’s northern operations under Jeff Hobson, regional director for the North and CEO of the Eleven Network. Brown, who previously served as broking director at Lothbury, is expected to play a key role in expanding Acrisure’s presence in the region.
- Scott Feltham has joined the southern management team as Private Clients Development Director. With over two decades of experience in high-net-worth and family office insurance, Feltham will focus on enhancing Acrisure’s offerings for this important client segment. He will report to Sally Swann, regional director for the South.
Gallagher Bassett Names New Director of Consulting
Gallagher Bassett has appointed Ashley Easen as Director of Consulting, where he will lead the company’s Risk Consulting, Claims Consulting, and Training Solutions teams. Easen, who has been with Gallagher Bassett since 2016, brings 25 years of risk management expertise to the role.
Joining Easen in this initiative is Julian Nicklin, who steps into the role of Head of Claims Consulting, further strengthening the firm’s consulting capabilities.
Conveybuddy Appoints Senior Account Manager
Conveybuddy, a leading conveyancing distributor, has appointed Rachel Payne as Senior Account Manager. Payne, who returns to the industry after a career break, will manage relationships across the company’s broker and introducer network. Her focus will include helping firms access tailored conveyancing and surveying solutions through Conveybuddy’s legal panel and its survey partner, The Moving Portal.
With nearly a decade of experience in the conveyancing distribution market, Payne is expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing the company’s broker-friendly service model.
