With an extensive career spanning over 18 years in the insurance sector, Kate Walas brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role. Prior to her recent promotion, Walas held the position of Senior Vice President, Professional Liability Underwriting at Upland. Her journey in the industry includes a notable tenure as the Chief Underwriting Officer at Indigo Specialty Underwriters. Before joining Upland, she held pivotal roles at Dual North America, where she served as Senior Vice President of Cyber Underwriting and later assumed the mantle of EVP Division Leader of Professional Liability.
Kate Walas has a proven track record of leadership and innovation. Her previous roles encompassed significant responsibilities, including Vice President and Head of Cyber and MPL Underwriting Operations at AXA XL. Additionally, she held various key positions at XL Catlin, such as Underwriting Manager for Financial Lines, Global Programs Underwriting Manager, and Vice President of Global Professional Underwriting.
Her journey commenced as a Specialty Lines Underwriter specializing in transportation at Northland/Travelers Insurance, laying a robust foundation for her illustrious career. Walas holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Connecticut.
