W Denis Launches Dedicated Division For Data Centre And Power Infrastructure Insurance

W Denis Group has unveiled a new specialist division focused on delivering comprehensive insurance solutions for data centres and their supporting power generation infrastructure.

This newly launched offering is backed by substantial global capacity—available in sterling, euro, or US dollar terms—and is designed to provide end-to-end cover tailored to the unique risks associated with data centre operations.

The division will offer dedicated protection for both physical data centre assets, including buildings, plant, and critical technology, as well as on-site electricity generation systems that underpin operational continuity. Coverage is available via direct insurance and facultative reinsurance, supported by a panel of international carriers. Programmes can be structured to accommodate single-site, multi-site, or portfolio-based risk across diverse geographic regions.

The insurance solution spans the entire lifecycle of a data centre, with products including construction all risks (with delay in start-up), operational property damage, equipment breakdown, and business interruption—particularly where triggered by utility failures. It also extends to the insuring of on-site power generation assets.

Further areas of cover include third-party liability, legal indemnities such as planning or easement disputes, cyber risk, data breaches, and professional liability exposures.

W Denis clients will also benefit from integrated support services, including claims advocacy and risk management advisory. These services encompass engineering risk assessments, loss prevention strategies, and resilience planning, supporting clients through the design, construction, and operational phases of a data centre project.

This move marks W Denis’ latest strategic expansion following its 2023 milestone, when the international broker secured planning approval to redevelop its headquarters at 8 St. Paul’s Street in Leeds city centre.
