Westfield Specialty International And QBE Make Key Underwriting Appointments In London

Westfield Specialty International and QBE have announced a series of underwriting appointments in London as both firms continue to build out their specialty insurance capabilities.

Westfield Specialty International strengthens power and renewables offering

Westfield Specialty International has appointed Matthew Radbourne as class underwriter for power and onshore renewables. Based in London, he will report to Jon Hamilton, divisional director for marine and energy.

Radbourne brings more than 20 years of experience in the power and utilities market. He joins from MS Amlin, where he most recently served as lead underwriter, having previously spent over a decade as senior underwriter for power generation. His career also includes senior roles at Guy Carpenter, Aon, Jardine Lloyd Thompson and Marsh.

QBE expands professional indemnity team

Meanwhile, QBE has made two appointments within its professional indemnity division ahead of the launch of a new media professional indemnity product for its European operations.

Lucy Smith has been appointed senior media PI underwriter, while Hannah Dennis joins as media PI underwriter. Both roles are based in London and report to Chris Pavlou, professional indemnity portfolio manager for international markets at QBE Europe.

Smith brings more than 10 years of experience underwriting media risks, most recently as senior media, film and TV underwriter at Tokio Marine HCC. Dennis also joins from Tokio Marine HCC and has a decade of industry experience, with the past three years focused on media, film and TV underwriting.

The new hires will support the development of QBE’s media PI offering in Europe, following the successful launch of a similar product in North America more than a decade ago. The product provides cover for video and film production, radio and television broadcasting, publishing and other media.
