Westfield Specialty International Names Melanie Gilbert As Head Of Third-Party Claims

Westfield Specialty International has appointed Melanie Gilbert as head of third-party claims, strengthening its leadership within the claims function.

Based in London, Gilbert will report to Katie MacGregor, director of operations (interim) and head of claims. In her new role, she will lead the management of third-party claims across the company’s international portfolio, overseeing a team dedicated to handling complex and high-value cases while fostering strong relationships with external stakeholders.

Gilbert brings over 15 years of legal and insurance expertise to the position. She most recently served as senior counsel at Markel, where she has worked since 2020. Her earlier career includes roles with Simmons & Simmons, StarStone Insurance, and CMS Cameron McKenna.

Her appointment comes amid a period of significant leadership transition at Westfield Specialty International. Earlier this month, Jiyan Zora, the company’s chief operating officer and chief administrative officer, departed the business. This followed the announcement that Graham Evans, international CEO, will step down on October 1. A search is currently underway for a successor to lead the company’s international operations and Syndicate 1200.
