Tokio Marine HCC International (TMHCCI), a subsidiary of the Tokio Marine HCC group, has appointed Claire Spiteri as Senior Underwriter within its Professional Risks division.
Spiteri, who will be based in Manchester, joins TMHCCI from AIG, where she held the role of Senior Professional Indemnity Underwriter. Her portfolio at AIG spanned a broad range of sectors, including professional services, construction, engineering, and media. At TMHCCI, she will report to Frances Eaton, Underwriting Manager for Professional Risks North.
In her new role, Spiteri will be instrumental in advancing the firm’s professional indemnity and management liability portfolios. She will also play a key role in strengthening relationships with brokers and clients throughout the UK.
Frances Eaton commented on the appointment, saying, “Claire’s diverse industry experience significantly enhances our team’s capabilities and the value we deliver to clients.”
Spiteri’s appointment comes amid a series of leadership changes at TMHCCI. Thibaud Hervy has been named Chief Executive Officer, and Simon Button has been appointed Chief Underwriting Officer for international operations. Both promotions are effective immediately, subject to regulatory approval, and align with a broader strategic realignment within the Tokio Marine HCC group.
Hervy, formerly Chief Underwriting Officer for Specialty Lines, succeeds Barry Cook, who now serves as Deputy CEO of Tokio Marine HCC. Cook has led TMHCCI for over two decades, guiding its evolution from a niche insurer to a $2.8 billion enterprise known for underwriting expertise and operational excellence.
These changes follow other key leadership moves within the group, including the appointment of Shaun Russ last year as Head of London Market, Crisis Management at Tokio Marine HCC – Specialty Group. Russ brings over 15 years of experience in the London Market, with previous roles at AXA XL, Chubb Global Markets, and Lockton Companies International.
