London Insurance Market Firms Announce Senior Leadership Appointments

Three organisations operating within the London insurance market have announced senior leadership appointments aimed at strengthening underwriting capabilities, delegated authority operations, specialist risk engineering, and long-term business growth.

Bspoke Group has introduced a newly created executive position to unify leadership across its commercial and delegated authority businesses. Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM) has expanded its technical expertise by appointing additional specialists across its energy, power, and construction risk engineering teams. Meanwhile, Verlingue London Markets has added an experienced London Market professional to support the continued expansion of its schemes, delegated authority, and motor trade operations.

Bspoke Group Creates New Commercial & Delegated Authority Leadership Role

Bspoke Group has appointed Wayne Tonge as Managing Director of Commercial & Delegated Authority, subject to regulatory approval. The newly established position expands Tonge’s current responsibilities, adding oversight of delegated authority operations alongside his existing leadership roles as Managing Director of Commercial and Managing Director of Miramar Underwriting.

The appointment supports Bspoke Group’s strategy of bringing its underwriting businesses closer together, creating a more integrated offering for brokers, business partners, and capacity providers. By placing commercial and delegated authority operations under unified leadership, the company aims to simplify decision-making, improve coordination between underwriting teams, and provide brokers with a single senior point of contact when handling risks that span multiple product lines, including property, home, lifestyle, and contents insurance.

Liberty Specialty Markets Expands Risk Engineering Expertise

Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has strengthened its UK and Middle East & North Africa (MENA) risk engineering teams with three specialist appointments focused on the energy, power, and construction sectors.

Richard Mundy has joined the business as Principal Risk Engineer for Energy and is based in London. Bringing more than 19 years of experience across both industry and insurance, Mundy will oversee a growing international portfolio of energy clients while concentrating on complex upstream, downstream, and construction-related energy risks. He will report to Paddy Lisulo, UK and MENA Risk Engineering Manager.

Also based in London, Taz Chowdhury has been appointed Risk Engineer for Power. With nearly seven years of engineering experience across the UK, MENA, Asia-Pacific, and Europe, Chowdhury will carry out technical risk assessments, site surveys, and provide engineering support for underwriting and claims activities across the UK and MENA markets. He will also report to Lisulo.

In Dubai, Sam McLachlan has joined as Risk Engineer for Construction. A Chartered Civil Engineer with more than 12 years of experience covering infrastructure, transport, energy, nuclear, commercial, and major construction projects, McLachlan will deliver technical risk engineering support to LSM’s MENA construction team while reporting to Sean Pearson, Underwriting Manager and Construction Regional Product Leader.

These appointments are designed to provide brokers with direct access to specialist engineers throughout underwriting and claims processes. By involving technical experts earlier in complex placements, LSM aims to deliver faster underwriting decisions, more detailed risk assessments, and stronger support for challenging industrial and construction risks.

Verlingue London Markets Adds Experienced Industry Leader

Verlingue London Markets has appointed Scott Mills as part of its ongoing investment in specialist expertise and business expansion.

Mills brings more than three decades of experience within Lloyd’s and the wider London insurance market, having worked across wholesale broking, underwriting, operations, business development, and senior leadership positions.

In his new role, Mills will help strengthen Verlingue London Markets’ capabilities across scheme development, delegated authority, motor trade, property and casualty, and motor fleet insurance. His extensive market knowledge and long-established industry relationships are expected to support brokers in developing new schemes, expanding delegated authority arrangements, and resolving complex placement challenges more efficiently.

The appointment reflects Verlingue’s commitment to strengthening its presence within specialist insurance markets while continuing to enhance the level of service and expertise available to brokers and clients.
