Ascot Announces Strategic Appointments To Expand Specialty Lines

Ascot has announced a series of strategic leadership appointments aimed at boosting underwriting performance and expanding its US marine operations. These changes underscore the company’s commitment to optimizing portfolios, driving innovation, and enhancing its competitive edge across specialty insurance lines.

Eric Herman has been named group head of underwriting performance management, a newly established role based in Iselin, New Jersey. Reporting directly to Group Chief Operating Officer Elizabeth Johnson and Group Chief Underwriting Officer Mark Pepper, Herman will collaborate across Ascot’s divisions to analyze market trends, refine business portfolios, and oversee the allocation of group capital.

Herman brings extensive industry expertise to this position. He previously served as chief underwriting officer for North America at Everest, where he introduced advanced analytics and portfolio management processes for a US$4 billion business. His career also includes leadership roles at Zurich North America and early experience as an actuary at Prudential P&C/High Point Insurance.

To support its expanding US marine portfolio, Ascot has introduced key leadership changes within this segment.

Jon Mosby has been appointed deputy chief underwriting officer, US marine and property, reporting to US chief underwriting officer Jesse Paulson. He joined Ascot in 2022 as senior vice president and head of inland marine.

Mosby will oversee underwriting strategies, governance, and innovation within the marine portfolio. With nearly two decades of marine underwriting experience, including roles at AXA XL, Gallagher, and The Hartford, Mosby is expected to further strengthen Ascot’s presence in this critical segment.

Replacing Mosby as head of inland marine, Ascot US, is Dustin Jones, who will be reporting to Pat Stoik, head of US marine.

With nearly 25 years of risk management experience, including his time at AXA XL, Jones will now lead the inland marine team and refine the market strategy for this critical business. He joined Ascot in 2022 as senior vice president of inland marine.

These leadership appointments reflect Ascot’s proactive approach to enhancing its underwriting capabilities and scaling its presence in key specialty markets.
