Ascot Appoints Matt Roy As Chief Operating Officer

Ascot has appointed Matt Roy as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of its U.S. division, effective November 18, according to a company announcement. Roy, based in Iselin, New Jersey, will report directly to Ascot Group COO Elizabeth Johnson and join the senior leadership team in the U.S.

In this newly created role, Roy will lead efforts to integrate underwriting, operations, and technology across Ascot’s U.S. business. His work will focus on refining the company’s operational model to enhance efficiency. Key responsibilities include driving strategic change initiatives and streamlining processes to align with Ascot’s business objectives.

Roy will also ensure a unified approach to platforms and procedures, leveraging best practices across the U.S. branch of the company.

Since joining Ascot in 2020 as Senior Vice President and Head of E&S Casualty, Roy has expanded his team to 25 risk specialists and introduced four new products within the E&S Casualty segment. He has also spearheaded technology innovations to improve underwriting efficiency.

Before Ascot, Roy was Assistant Vice President in E&S Casualty at AXA XL. He also spent six years with Everest Insurance, where he served as Northeast Regional Manager and Technical Operations Leader in Wholesale Casualty. Roy began his career at Crum & Forster, transitioning from an operations role to underwriting in the wholesale casualty division.
