Aviva Completes Acquisition Of Direct Line Group, Unveils New Leadership Structure

Aviva has officially completed its acquisition of Direct Line Group, following final regulatory clearance from the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). The landmark deal is expected to reshape the UK motor insurance landscape.

Jason Storah, currently CEO of UK & Ireland General Insurance at Aviva, has been appointed CEO of the combined entity. He expressed appreciation for the teams involved in the transaction and extended a warm welcome to new colleagues joining from Direct Line.

In conjunction with the completion, Aviva has announced a refreshed leadership structure for its personal lines division. Owen Morris has been named CEO of UK Personal Lines, with responsibility for both the Aviva and Direct Line personal lines portfolios. He will report directly to Storah.

Several key interim appointments have also been made within the Direct Line business:

  • Tom Latter – Finance Director
  • Michael Korner – motor managing director
  • Craig Thornton – overseeing home, Commercial and Rescue
  • Charlotte Moran – in charge of Customer Operations
  • Martin Milliner – Claims
  • Jon Marsh – GI Integration and Transformation
  • Jane Storm – Chief People Officer
  • Kerry Chilvers – UKGI Customer and Marketing
  • David Hughes – Chief Information Officer
  • Matt Ward – Chief Risk Officer
  • Howard Grand – General Counsel
  • Sharon Torpey – Head of Audit
  • Sukhraj Takhar – Chief Controls Officer

All appointments are effective immediately.

Changes have also been introduced within Aviva’s existing personal lines operations. Stuart Curson has been appointed Managing Director, with Ellie Shepherd taking over Customer Operations. James Raven has been named Finance Director, Wendy Moores will lead Customer and Marketing, and Nicola Wilson will oversee Transformation initiatives.

The combined leadership team is tasked with driving integration and maintaining momentum across both businesses during this pivotal period.
