AXIS Managing Agency (AMA), AXIS Capital’s managing agent arm that is in charge of the group’s Lloyd’s operation, has appointed John Owen as chief executive.
Owen, who spent nearly two decades at Novae before its merger with AXIS six years ago, most recently served as the wider company’s head of specialty for global markets. Subject to regulatory approval, he is succeeding Mark Gregory, who previously led AMA in addition to his role as AXIS global markets head.
“John’s extensive underwriting and leadership experience within AXIS and Lloyd’s market equip him very well for the management and regulatory responsibilities of his new position as CEO of AXIS Managing Agency,” Gregory, who will remain a member of the AMA board, said in a release.
“The depth of John’s market knowledge, his experience in underwriting across various specialty lines, and his strong relationships across the market will strongly support our efforts to elevate AXIS as a leading specialty insurer and reinsurer.”
The Lloyd’s operation of AXIS includes Syndicate 1686.
