Independent insurance and reinsurance broker BMS has appointed Genna Biddell as Managing Director and Head of London P&C Re. In her new role, Biddell will report to Brad Melvin, President and CEO of BMS Re US, and will be responsible for leading the development and management of the London P&C reinsurance business. She will also collaborate with reinsurance and programs teams across the US, London, and Bermuda to drive growth and operational synergies.
Additionally, Biddell will oversee strategic initiatives aimed at expanding business opportunities across various divisions. With 25 years of experience in the reinsurance sector, she previously served as Managing Director of the North America wholesale property treaty team at Howden Re and held senior roles in North American property treaty at Willis Re and Aon Re.
Biddell’s appointment follows a period of significant expansion for BMS. The company recently announced an agreement to acquire Rasher, a Spain-based insurance broker with operations in Colombia and Peru. This acquisition, pending regulatory approval, will strengthen BMS Group’s footprint in the Iberian and Latin American markets. Rasher specializes in surety, credit, and risk management solutions for corporate clients, employing a team of 90 professionals who design and manage insurance programs while also providing advisory and claims services.
In addition to its expansion in Latin America, BMS is also reinforcing its presence in Africa. In November, the company announced the appointment of Ryan Phillips as Practice Leader. Phillips, who will join in March, will be based in the London office and report to Paul Galvin, Director. His role will focus on broadening BMS’s regional presence across the African continent, with an emphasis on enhancing services for clients, particularly in South Africa.
