BMS strengthens US marine capacity

Independent consultant insurance and reinsurance dealer BMS has announced the appointments of Nick Hocking and Tony Cuthbertson as directors of its marine division. Both will be established in London and will report to John Hoare, managing director of BMS marine.

Hocking rejoins the company after more than a decade at Price Forbes & Partners, where he was most recently a senior manager in the marine division. Hocking previously worked at BMS as a marine hull broker.

Cuthbertson has more than 30 years of knowledge in marine insurance. He also joins BMS from Price Forbes & Partners, where he is administered as an executive director. Before Price Forbes & Partners, Cuthbertson attended as a marine broker at Newman Martin and Buchan.

“We are pleased that professionals of Nick and Tony’s calibre have joined the team,” said Ian Gormley, managing director of the BMS Global Risks department. “Their fast experience and technical understanding will strengthen our offering and support our strategic intention of expanding BMS’s US marine wholesale business.”

“BMS is committed to providing extensive and profitable insights to clients, driving market-leading outcomes for our growing US portfolio,” Hoare said. “Both Nick and Tony are great additions and will help to develop solutions for various specialty areas like hull and machinery, P&I, charterers’ liability, and other expert covers across the specialty.
