Canopius group reveals incoming finance Head.

Global specialty insurer and reinsurer, Canopius Group, underwriting operations in the US, Australia, China, Singapore, and Bermuda, has revealed its new group check final officer in the form of Gavin Phillips.

The new chief financial officer will sign up for the position in January 2022. He will be succeeding Nigel Meyer, who will step down in March 2022. Phillips will be joining from PwC, where he has worked for approximately three decades.

The new chief financial officer’s credential spans both the US and the UK and also comprise time at Lloyd’s and Prudential Plc.

Phillips also held the position of head of Lloyd’s London Market Business. He led insurance and Asset Management assurance practices.

Neil Robertson, Deputy General Manager, said it was a great pleasure for him to welcome someone of Gavin’s caliber to Canopius. Gavin stood out from a strong pool of candidates for displaying genuine passion and enthusiasm for Canpius’s vision and strategic direction. Gavin is an established leader in the finance function. Still, he is also a natural bearer of culture and who will undoubtedly have a broad and significant impact on all areas of the company’s business.

Neil also thanked Meyer for his many outstanding contributions, which have been instrumental in the company’s development. On behalf of everyone at Canopius, the Deputy CEO wished Meyer all the very best for his future endeavors.
