Covid-19 resulted in escalation of Telehealth Claims

FAIR Health’s Monthly Telehealth Regional Tracker informs about the surge of Insurance claims for telehealth as a result of COVID-19.

When the pandemic started in March telehealth visits increased to 50% according to Frost and Sullivan. Also, Telehealth claim lines raised to 2,938% from November 2019 to November 2020, according to FAIR Health.

On this FAIR health stated that higher telehealth utilization from March to November 2020 in comparison with the same months in 2019 was likely a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, as patients and providers turned to telehealth as a way of reducing the risk of disease transmission associated with in-person visits. It is expected that the telehealth and telemedicine market to reach USD 191.7 billion by 2025. Increasing technology adoption in the wake of COVID-19 turned out to be one of the major factors in the growth of the telehealth and telemedicine market.
