Commercial property insurer FM has appointed Nicholas McClure as operations senior vice-president and chief executive of its London operations, overseeing business activities across the UK, Ireland, the Nordics, the Middle East, and Africa.
McClure takes over from Bill Bradshaw, who retired earlier in 2026. In his new position, he will report to Loïc Le Dréau, senior vice-president and EMEA division manager, who assumed his role in December 2025.
Career Journey from Chicago to London Leadership
McClure joined FM in 2008 as an account underwriter for FM Affiliated, the company’s global middle-market division, based in Chicago. Over the years, he has held several leadership positions across the United States, including client service manager in Seattle, regional sales manager in Chicago, and business development executive in Cleveland.
Before his latest appointment, McClure served as operations senior vice-president and operations manager for St. Louis. In that role, he managed underwriting and insurance processing functions across FM’s St. Louis and Minneapolis offices. His extensive experience in middle-market operations and client service is expected to support FM’s customer-focused activities throughout the EMEA region.
McClure earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Iowa.
Expanding Opportunities in the EMEA Market
McClure assumes leadership of FM’s London operations at a time when the company continues to expand its presence across key markets. In January 2026, FM increased its data centre insurance capacity to US$5 billion through its FM Intellium division.
The unit focuses on emerging risks associated with artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and power generation. FM currently provides insurance coverage for approximately 1,100 data centres globally, representing a combined insurable value of around US$250 billion.
The EMEA region remains an important growth area for the insurer, particularly as data centre development accelerates across the UK, Nordic countries, and the Middle East. Rising demand for cloud services and AI-driven computing infrastructure continues to fuel investment in these markets.
Leadership Changes Continue Across FM
McClure’s appointment is part of a broader leadership transition within FM. In December 2025, the company appointed Johnell Holly as executive vice-president of US and Latin America operations, while James O’Brien was named to a newly created position overseeing FM Intellium and specialty operations.
Together with the appointment of Loïc Le Dréau as EMEA division manager, these leadership changes reflect FM’s ongoing efforts to strengthen and align its global operational structure. The company employs more than 5,500 people and operates in over 100 countries worldwide.
