Insurance Sector Sees Leadership Moves

The latest developments in the insurance market have seen the Association of Average Adjusters appoint a new chairman, while London-based MGA Euna Underwriting has strengthened its property and casualty leadership team.

Association of Average Adjusters names new chairman

The Association of Average Adjusters (AAA) has appointed Stelios Magkanaris as chairman for the next 12 months, with the new appointee aiming to increase awareness of average adjusting within the marine insurance and claims sector.

Magkanaris was confirmed in the role during the association’s annual general meeting held in London on May 7. He succeeds Chris Kilbee, who completed his one-year tenure as chairman.

Currently the director and founder of Greece-based Maradco, Magkanaris has built a career spanning technical and claims-related positions. His professional background includes roles at one of Greece’s largest shipping firms as well as the Piraeus office of the Swedish Club, where he served as marine claims manager.

Euna Underwriting appoints head of property and casualty

London-based MGA Euna Underwriting has named Nicholas Hartley as head of property and casualty as the company continues to expand its multi-line offering.

In his new role, Hartley will help shape the strategic direction of the firm’s P&C operations while overseeing underwriting strategy and portfolio management activities.

Hartley joins Euna Underwriting from AXA UK, where he most recently held the position of head of SME underwriting. During his tenure, he managed a diversified portfolio covering property and casualty, motor fleet, and financial lines business.

Bringing more than 25 years of underwriting experience, Hartley adds significant technical expertise and portfolio development experience to the business as Euna Underwriting continues to grow its presence in the UK market.
