Liberty Mutual Reinsurance Group (LM Re), the reinsurance division of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has appointed Tom Spurgeon as global head of cyber reinsurance.
Based in London, Spurgeon will report to Susan Barber, head of financial risks within LM Re. In his new role, he will focus on growing the company’s global cyber reinsurance portfolio and working with brokers and cedents to develop structured solutions for cyber risk.
Spurgeon has been with the firm for nine years and has established a strong reputation within the reinsurance industry. His industry standing was recently recognised through his leadership of the International Underwriting Association of London’s Cyber Reinsurance Committee.
He succeeds Ivonne Staisch, who has left the company to pursue opportunities elsewhere.
