Ninety One, the global investment manager with £184 billion in assets under management, has selected Fenergo to support a major transformation of its operating model.
As part of the partnership, Ninety One will deploy Fenergo’s unified platform to bring together Know Your Customer (KYC) processes across client onboarding and periodic reviews, Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), transaction monitoring and intelligent automation within a single system. The solution will support the asset manager’s client operations across South Africa, the UK and Luxembourg.
The transformation forms part of Ninety One’s broader ambition to become one of the world’s leading asset managers. By simplifying client lifecycle management, strengthening financial crime controls and creating a more client-focused experience, the firm aims to improve how it manages customer relationships throughout the lifecycle.
The move will also help Ninety One replace a collection of disconnected systems and manual processes with a more consolidated operating environment. The firm expects this to provide a single view of client relationships, risk exposure and financial crime indicators, helping accelerate onboarding while reducing the compliance workload for employees.
Ninety One identified Fenergo’s financial-services expertise, established technology platform, extensive global client base and continued investment in artificial intelligence among the factors behind its selection. Fenergo’s Agentic AI capabilities were also highlighted as an important consideration, with the technology expected to automate routine operational activities, accelerate decision-making and enable more intelligent management of client lifecycle and financial crime processes.
The implementation will be delivered in phases. According to the companies, the staged rollout is intended to establish a scalable operating model that can support Ninety One’s long-term growth while providing opportunities for further innovation.
The partnership is expected to deliver several benefits, including a smoother client experience with fewer repeated requests for information and greater operational efficiency by bringing client lifecycle management, transaction monitoring and automation together on one platform.
The unified approach is also expected to strengthen financial crime controls by providing continuous monitoring and a more comprehensive view of client risk. Relationship managers and compliance teams should gain greater visibility into client information, potentially reducing repetitive outreach and making it easier to maintain accurate client records.
By combining client lifecycle management with transaction monitoring, Ninety One is also expected to gain clearer visibility into customer activity. This could help identify potential financial crime risks earlier while reducing the operational complexity associated with managing separate systems and processes.
Fenergo views the partnership as part of its wider objective of helping financial institutions bring client lifecycle management and financial crime operations together through an AI-powered platform. By connecting onboarding, compliance, risk management and transaction monitoring, the platform is designed to help financial institutions deliver stronger client experiences while maintaining robust financial crime controls and a flexible operating model for future growth.
