The strategic appointment aligns with Pen’s emphasis upon internal leadership development.
Looking at her experience profile, she is currently working as a senior professional indemnity (PI) underwriter for UK PI. Jones became a member of Pen’s Manchester Underwriting Management business in October 2022, where she was responsible for the renewal of some of the UK’s largest and most prestigious clients.
Jones’ advancement involves her dedicated work and her responsibility for overseeing both the strategic and operational aspects of every capacity partnership that underpins Pen’s five essential underwriting divisions, dividing her time between London and Leeds.
She will also dedicate her efforts to expanding Pen’s portfolio through new capacity relationships, facilitating international expansion and diverse business lines.
Bringing a decade of experience to her new role, Jones has showcased expertise in achieving profitable account growth, business acquisition, and nurturing underwriting talent. Her proficiency spans across various insurance products, encompassing traditional commercial property and professional risks as well as emerging sectors like cyber, technology, and media.
Stewart Gardiner, technical underwriting director at Pen Underwriting, said, “Effective capacity management is pivotal to Pen achieving its growth ambitions, both by looking after our long-term strategic partners and developing valuable new relationships. We have a vibrant UK MGA market right now – one where we are seeing new potential capacity emerge, including more US insurers looking to branch into the UK, as well as long-term partnerships commit to multi-year renewals.
“Megan’s credentials and consistency, in delivering impressive underwriting growth and technical excellence, lend themselves brilliantly to the key role of capacity relationship management. We’re delighted she is taking on this important position within the business and building her career within Pen,” he continued.
Megan Jones, capacity relationship manager at Pen Underwriting, added, “This is an exciting time to be moving into capacity management, especially in an MGA as large and ambitious as Pen. Capacity will always be a demanding and dynamic area to work in, where you have to work hard to secure strong relationships and deliver mutually beneficial results. But I’m looking forward to the challenge and getting to know and supporting all our partners.”
