Policyholder Lawyers Forms New Firm

More than 20 former McKool Smith policyholder lawyers and other staff have left the company to form a rival firm.

New York-based Cohen Ziffer Frenchman & McKenna LLP will be lead by Robin Cohen, former head of the insurance recovery practice of McKool Smith, says the statement issued by the new firm.

In 2016, Ms. Cohen led a group of lawyers from Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman LLP to form McKool Smith’s insurance recovery practice.

Other former McKool Smith lawyers joining the new firm are Adam Ziffer, Kenneth Frenchman, and Keith McKenna as named partners, and Meredith Elkins, Orrie A. Levy, Marc T. Ladd, Michelle R. Mignon, and Alexander M. Sugzda as partners. According to the statement, the new firm will represent Fortune 500 companies, hedge funds, and private equity firms.
