Rokstone Launches New UK And Ireland Casualty Division

Rokstone, the international specialty re/insurance managing general agent (MGA), has announced the launch of its UK and Ireland casualty division, appointed Lewis Goodearl as its head.

Goodearl brings over 30 years of experience in casualty underwriting, having most recently served as a senior underwriter at Convex for five years. His career also includes leadership roles at AXA XL, XL Catlin, and held senior underwriting roles at Liberty Mutual and ACE Europe, where he managed extensive casualty portfolios for the UK and Ireland.

The new division will focus on underwriting a broad range of casualty risks across the UK and Ireland, backed by A-rated Lloyd’s capacity. Its underwriting appetite spans employers’ liability (EL), public liability (PL), contractors all risks (CAR), and related property exposures. Key target sectors include construction, real estate, manufacturing, infrastructure, and mid-market commercial businesses.

This expansion aligns with Rokstone’s broader strategy to strengthen its casualty capabilities, following the launch of its US casualty division in late 2024. Initially, the UK and Ireland team will focus on open market business, partnering with wholesale and retail brokers, with plans to extend into delegated underwriting authority and facility-based distribution over time.

Commenting on the appointment, Rokstone’s leadership noted, “We continue to attract top-tier talent, and Lewis is a prime example, drawn by our dynamic culture, cutting-edge technology, and long-term, committed capacity partnerships.”

In addition to talent acquisition, Rokstone aims to leverage its centralised data and analytics capabilities to differentiate pricing and portfolio management, providing a competitive edge in the casualty space.

Rokstone, part of the Aventum Group, underwrites over US$1.1 billion in gross written premiums annually, with operations spanning the UK, Europe, the US, Asia, and the Middle East. Its specialty product lines include property, power generation, marine, aviation, and credit, among others.
