AIG names new underwriting chief officer for international casualty

American Worldwide Group (AIG) has issued a statement calling for the appointment of Clara Brady as the latest chief underwriting officer for International Liability Insurance. Throughout this role, Clara will be responsible for the complete strategic approach and objectives of international casualty underwriting.

Clara will be working from Zurich and reporting to the global chief underwriting officer for casualty and financial lines, Lex Baugh, and CEO of international general insurance of AIG, John Hancock. She will be taking over from Patrick Mailloux, who has retired from the company Before joining AIG, Clara held positions as Head of Global Corporate and Specialty at Allianz Global.

Corporation and Specialty. She has also worked in Swiss Re with several leadership positions. Clara has started her career by joining Chubb as an underwriter.

Baugh and Hancock stated in a joint statement that Clara Brady is an extraordinary leader and brings tremendous casualty underwriting experience to the company’s team. They look forward to her expertise as they try to deliver value and enhance the customer experience worldwide.

Recently American International Group resulted that it has planned to strengthen the terms of ADS cyber insurance attributing the decision to a premium price increase of nearly 40% globally, with North America, in particular, posting the most considerable increase. Previously, AIG announced that it had got into an strategic partnership with Blackstone for the latter to acquire a 9.9% equity stake in its life and retirement business for US 2.2 billion dollars.
