Banyan Software, a Toronto-based company that acquires and operates software businesses for the long term, has completed the acquisition of HMM Germany, an eHealth technology company headquartered in Moers. HMM connects health insurers, medical device manufacturers and healthcare providers through its digital platform.
Under the agreement, HMM will continue to operate with its current leadership team while receiving long-term financial backing and operational support from Banyan. The investment is expected to accelerate platform development, expand AI capabilities and support the company’s future growth.
HMM’s X3.Net platform provides digital infrastructure that enables health insurers, medical device manufacturers and healthcare providers to manage processes such as cost estimates, approvals, billing and reimbursements for medical aids in real time.
The company employs more than 200 people and serves German health insurers, medical device manufacturers and thousands of healthcare providers. Its operations will remain in Moers following the acquisition, while Banyan plans to invest further in platform innovation, automation and enhanced customer support.
Banyan Software is a long-term owner of software companies that serve specialised industries. The company follows a buy-and-hold strategy, using permanent capital to support growth across its portfolio of more than 100 software businesses operating throughout North America, South America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
Commenting on the acquisition, Banyan Software Operating Partner Kay-Ingo Greve said that HMM has built trusted relationships with insurers and healthcare providers since 2006. He noted that the company will continue operating from Moers with its existing team while Banyan invests in the eHealth platform, responsible automation and the people who support customers every day.
