CII appointed Mandy Hunt as the latest Society of Underwriting Professionals Chair

The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Maiden statement revealing that Mandy Hunt, chief underwriting officer for commercial lines at RSA, will be the next chair of CII’s Society of Underwriting Professionals.

Mandy joined the advisory board of society back in 2019. He brings a wealth of underwriting work experience and knowledge to a leadership position and is a long-time advocate of the CII and the importance of professional development and qualifications Mandy started her insurance career back in 1990 at Willis as an Account Holder, prior to taking on a
claims manager role at Lambert Fenchurch. She started her work at RSA in 1998 as a Senior Development Underwriter, progressing through liability and property rules before becoming Regional Manager. After that, she took up the position of managing director of the Insurance Corporation of
Central Island at RSA back in 2018.

Mandy will be succeeding David Williams, Managing Director of Underwriting and Technical Services at AXA, in the chair role.

Regarding the appointment, Mandy said she is delighted to take up the opportunity and also grateful for the support of the advisory board colleagues. Since joining the board in 2019, she has seen SOUP put down song excellent foundations by providing regular guidance and inside for company members throughout the COVID19 pandemic. She will be focusing on building success by developing a strategic approach to some of the most significant issues that the company is facing in its sectors, such as skills, technology, and trust.

For someone entering the profession, data and analytical skills and understanding new technology are crucial for success. Companies also need to help customers understand the value of what they are offering and give the customer the confidence and trust that the insurance industry will support them when the time comes.

She also added the CII’s purpose is to build public trust, and she wants to insecure that that customer is well served in this underwriting is a challenging and rewarding career. They must provide their members with all the tools they need to navigate the business environment and realize opportunities.

Chief executive of CII Sain Fisher said that CII’s insurance societies are sector-specific professional communities that provide their members with relevant and insightful learning. Mandy’s experience and leadership will continue to drive SOUP’s growing engagement with the underwriting sector, and she thanked David. He has been an excellent chair to the Advisory Board, and she is also looking forward to working with Mandy and the other Board members in the years ahead.
