Cytora Shifts to the Permanent Remote-First Working Culture

Insurtech Cytora, specialized in simplifying underwriting for commercial insurance is moving to remote-first working permanently.

The employees can work from any location of their choice and are not constrained to a physical office.

The firm will be collecting feedback from its employees on the progress made to ensure it is continually improving its new culture.

Cytora’s CMO Max Pepe stated, “Covid-19 was undeniably the catalyst for our decision, but it’s definitely not the reason.”

Pepe added,” the concept of the traditional workplace needed to change regardless of this, and our decision to go remote-first has been designed with purpose and conviction.”

It is one of several firms in the insurance industry to make this move including law firm Slater and Gordon.

Cytora is implementing the following initiatives due to this process:

  • Each employee will receive a remote working travel budget of £2,000 a year to work from the place they wish
  • Cytora will be booking monthly Airbnb accommodation for employees to meet, work, and socialize, depending on Covid-restrictions.
  • The budget is available for employees to purchase chairs, desks, ergonomics, monitors, headphones, lamps, fans/heaters, and more equipment that are necessary.
  • Regular offsites will enable staff to work together and socialize. As Covid restrictions ease, it will be hosting fortnightly all-company social get-togethers in London.
