Ascot Group Limited, a global specialty insurance firm, has announced the appointments of Ian Thompson and Justin Keith as new executives. Thompson will serve as the chief executive officer and director of Ascot Underwriting Limited, while Keith will become the president and chief executive officer of Ascot Bermuda Limited.
Ian Thompson
Ian Thompson joined Ascot Bermuda in 2017 as the chief underwriting officer of casualty and specialty. He was promoted to president and CEO of Ascot Bermuda in December 2020, overseeing the firm’s specialty insurance, reinsurance, and alternative capital businesses on the island. In his new role, Thompson will replace Zaffino and relocate to London, continuing to report to Zaffino and serving on the global executive committee.
Justin Keith
Justin Keith, who also joined Ascot in 2017, has advanced through various roles to become the chief underwriting officer for casualty and specialty. Keith’s career began at CNA Insurance as a senior underwriter. He then served as vice president at Ironshore Insurance and later at Hiscox as vice president of specialty treaty and healthcare. Pending board and immigration approval, Keith will report to Zaffino and oversee all aspects of Ascot Bermuda’s operations.
